By poking fun at myself and saying things that aren't quite true, I hoped to paint a picture of what it's like to use a bike as the main form of transportation.

Jokes, dude. Anyway, the point is, I didn't really go on any dates.

In regards to Portland and Park, I'm not sure what my opinion is there. Those streets weren't initially intended to be miniature freeways, but once they were converted to three one-way lanes, that's what they became. And then when roads that at least for a while were designed specifically for people to drive on, suddenly those roads had a lot of people driving on them. And then that became a problem? I don't get it.

On the other hand, people don't NEED to drive as often. They CHOOSE to. All forms of transit have infrastructure that is subsidized, whether its driving, busing, biking, or walking. We subsidize what we value, and those subsidies are meant to create a certain set of behaviors. Right now, we as a society are trending towards valuing biking and walking.Jeff Skreneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597476540441866248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2382985764534737174.post-14613380738752911392012-10-26T00:00:33.353-05:002012-10-26T00:00:33.353-05:00I am sick of you bike-crazy people. I usually take the bus, but decided to drive to work today because I had a night engagement. My commute on the new "bike-friendly" (which was very bike-friendly before the resurfacing) Park Ave took an extra 10 minutes, and I only saw one bike the entire drive. This is Minnesota. People need to be able to drive. This crap makes me want to abandon my Powderhorn house and move to the suburbs. And FYI if anyone came to pick me up on a date on a bike I would never go out with them again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
